In the ports of Brittany, used fishing nets have become an environmental problem, with over 800 tons discarded annually. These nets, now repurposed, are sent to Ukraine to protect soldiers and civilians from Russian drones. The charity organization Kernic Solidarités has shipped 280 km of nets, which are used to create barriers against kamikaze drones. The nets from Brittany, made from a durable thread, are valued for their effectiveness in stopping drones, having a structure that mimics a spider's web. Although the organization no longer has funds for future shipments, the fishing community from Brittany, Sweden, and Denmark continues to contribute. Ukrainian soldiers confirm that these nets make a significant difference in their defense, highlighting the human connection between European fishing communities and those fighting in Ukraine.
