FedEx has filed a complaint before the International Court of Commerce, seeking a full refund of the tariffs paid to the government, after the Supreme Court ruled that President Trump exceeded his authority by unilaterally imposing tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). This is the first major action to recover tariffs from the court's decision, which left open the question of whether affected companies can seek refunds. FedEx has requested an order to compel Customs and Border Protection to return all duties paid last year. The company emphasized that it has suffered damages due to these orders. FedEx also mentioned that it expects a loss of $1 billion in profits in 2025 due to the policies of the Trump administration. The lawsuit joins other legal actions from large corporations, such as Costco and Revlon, and was prompted by complaints from small businesses. Following the Supreme Court's decision, Trump imposed a new global tariff of 15% under another trade law from 1974.
