On Friday, a devastating explosion at a factory in the Ryazan region, 320 kilometers southeast of Moscow, killed 11 people and injured 130, according to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. Gov. Pavel Malkov said the incident was caused by a fire in a workshop at the factory, but authorities have not provided details about the cause of the fire or the factory's operations. Local media suggest the explosion may have been caused by the ignition of gunpowder, and the region has previously been the target of Ukrainian drone attacks. Rescue crews continue to search through the rubble.
