The European Commission plans to completely ban Russian gas imports by the end of 2027 and block new deals by the end of this year. To implement the ban, companies will have to disclose detailed information about existing contracts, including their volumes and duration. Importers will also have to prove the origin of imported gas. There are concerns that firms could resist these requirements and the commission may consider privacy protections.
