On Friday, an explosion followed by a fire occurred in the engine room of the oil tanker Kairos, which was sailing under the Gambian flag in the Black Sea, approximately 84 km north of the Bosporus Strait. The incident was reported by the maritime agency Tribeca, and initial information suggests that the vessel may have hit a mine, posing risks of sinking.
Following the explosion, authorities mobilized rescue tugboats and coast guard intervention teams to manage the emergency situation. Although the incident was serious, maritime traffic through the Bosporus Strait continued without restriction, according to official statements.
