MEP Virgil Popescu announced that the European Union will gradually reduce its dependence on Russian gas, following the favorable vote in the ITRE and ITC committees. The amendment of Regulation (EU) 2017/1938 will allow member states to more effectively monitor energy risks and prevent crises, marking a step towards a safer and more energy-independent Europe.
