The main objective of Romania is to eliminate the presence of Russian companies, especially Lukoil and Gazprom, from the energy sector as part of the measures to sanction Russia. Bușoi mentioned that discussions are taking place at the level of the European Union regarding guidelines for the uniform application of these measures.
Additionally, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy, Cristian Bușoi, emphasized the impact of electricity price liberalization on the population, highlighting the need for price caps, a measure considered temporary but essential in the context of rising prices caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
Romania will continue to support vulnerable consumers and will pay its debts to suppliers. Bușoi also mentioned the possibility of reducing the excise duty on fuels, considering the rising prices and the ban on imports from Russia.
