Romanians must prepare for very high electricity prices in the winter and spring of 2027, Cristian Bușoi, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Energy, warned on Tuesday at a conference organized by InvesTenergy under the patronage of ANRE.
The official explained that both reactors at Cernavodă are shut down, and there is currently no clear prospect of restarting them. According to Bușoi, the forecast for the next ten days is “very worrying,” and each day of delay may increase pressure on prices. This situation is compounded by high gas prices across Europe.
“Reactors 1 and 2 at Cernavodă are still shut down, and we do not have a clear prospect of reopening them. At least for the next ten days, the forecast looks very worrying, which prolongs a situation that, with each day it remains this way, means a risk of electricity prices increasing in the coming months and which, evidently, adds to the general situation in Europe, where gas prices are very high. The issue discussed there was that we must prepare for a winter and spring of 2027 with very high electricity prices. We do not yet have the final direction, but we can already state some things very clearly. First of all, Romania’s energy system has proven more resilient than many people may have expected,” the Secretary of State stated at a conference organized by InvesTenergy under the patronage of ANRE
