Before Radu Burnete’s statements, officials and analysts had drawn attention to a period of volatility in the energy market. Secretary of State Cristian Bușoi said that, as long as the Cernavodă reactors were shut down, the forecast was “very worrying,” and each day of delay could intensify pressure on prices, amid high gas prices at the European level.
For his part, Dumitru Chisăliță, president of the Intelligent Energy Association, warned that the cold season of 2026–2027 could be more difficult due to the low level of gas storage in the country and in Europe, with possible effects on electricity bills (in scenarios of up to +20%). Meanwhile, the director of Romgaz stated that no gas supply problems were expected for household consumers, but emphasized that industry and other non-household consumers are exposed to European prices.
