Margus Tsahkna, the Estonian foreign minister, stated that his country is not vulnerable to a possible Russian invasion, calling these claims 'fake news'. In an interview with Deutsche Welle, he emphasized that Estonia is preparing to resist and launch attacks on Russian territory if it is attacked. Tsahkna mentioned that NATO is stronger than ever and that Estonia has well-defined defense plans.
However, he expressed concern about Europe's decision-making unity, warning that discussions with Vladimir Putin without a solid plan could lead to a weaker position for Ukraine.
This opinion comes in the context where European leaders, including the Latvian Prime Minister and the Estonian President, have called for the appointment of a special EU envoy to discuss with Russia. While trilateral discussions between the US, Ukraine, and Russia continue, major obstacles remain, especially in the Donetsk region, controlled by Russia.
