BYD, a Chinese manufacturer of fully electric vehicles, is on track to become, for the first time, the largest manufacturer in the world, dethroning Tesla in 2025. This change is due to BYD's accelerated international expansion and the difficulties faced by Tesla, including political pressures and image problems. By the end of November, BYD had sold 2,066,002 electric vehicles, surpassing the two million mark, while Tesla reported 1,217,902 vehicles sold by the end of September.
Although Tesla had a temporary boost in the third quarter, the outlook for the fourth quarter is weak, with declining delivery estimates. The declines in Tesla's sales are attributed to several factors, including intensified competition and the controversial relationship between Elon Musk and Donald Trump. In contrast, BYD continues to expand internationally, allowing it to navigate better in a complex global environment.
