Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, Bulgaria has recorded arms exports of 13 billion leva, strengthening its position as an important player in the European defense industry. The defense sector contributes over 4% to the country's GDP, and the company VMZ-Sopot reported an increase in revenues from 191 million leva in 2021 to over 1 billion in 2025. This expansion has generated jobs and positively influenced the income of the population, highlighting the strategic importance of the industry in the current economic context.
