Starting in July, autonomous vehicles will be able to be tested on public roads in Portugal, according to a new decree-law. This establishes strict rules regarding safety, insurance, and the supervision of tests. Portuguese authorities will evaluate vehicles equipped with autonomous driving systems in real traffic conditions, ensuring that they meet the necessary safety standards. Additionally, measures will be implemented to protect users and pedestrians. This initiative is part of efforts to integrate autonomous technology into the country's transport infrastructure, promoting innovation and sustainable development. Portugal thus joins other countries that have begun testing autonomous vehicles, aiming to improve road safety and transport efficiency.
