A new bill regulating the obtaining of a driving license has been adopted by senators with 74 votes "for", 7 "against" and 17 abstentions. The law will be submitted to a final vote in the Chamber of Deputies, which is the decision-making body. According to the new provisions, future drivers will have to perform mandatory maneuvers during the practical test, including reversing, turning, parking, and stopping.
The initiators of the law argue that these maneuvers are essential for road safety and for the proper training of drivers. Although the reintroduction of the maneuver test in the driving exam was discussed, it was not included in the project.
If the law is adopted by the Chamber of Deputies, it will come into force 90 days after publication in the Official Gazette, and the Minister of Internal Affairs will issue an order regarding the conditions for evaluating the maneuvers.
