The National Climate Center in China has announced that the effects of the El Nino phenomenon will peak in the fall and winter of this year, with a moderate or greater intensity. Deputy Director Gao Rong explained that the sea surface temperatures in the equatorial Pacific have entered an El Nino state, and the likelihood of strong events is increasing, with the phenomenon expected to weaken in the spring of next year. El Nino, linked to the warming of the Pacific, will bring heavier precipitation to the American coasts and disrupt the East Asian monsoon, increasing the risk of flooding in southern China and drought in other regions. This situation will affect the late-season rice harvest and reduce water reserves for spring plowing. Additionally, the electricity grid in southern China has recorded new peak loads, disrupting the seasonal pattern of annual peaks.
