The German group Volkswagen has announced that it could experience temporary production stoppages due to restrictions imposed by China on semiconductors produced by Nexperia, a company based in the Netherlands but owned by the Chinese. Although Nexperia does not supply Volkswagen directly, some components manufactured by it are used by the company's suppliers. Volkswagen representatives stated that, for now, production is not affected, but they cannot rule out short-term effects. The warning comes in the context of a trade dispute between China and the Netherlands, which could lead to significant production restrictions in the automotive industry. Recently, the Dutch government took control of Nexperia for national security reasons, and China reacted by blocking exports, raising concerns in the European automotive sector. Volkswagen's shares fell by 2.2% on the stock market, reflecting tensions in the global semiconductor supply chain.
