The former PNL leader stated on Digi24 that Romania is facing a loss of economic breath in recent years. He emphasized that, despite the significant increase in public investment spending, the pace of economic growth has steadily decreased, from 5.6% in 2021 to estimates of only 0.7% in 2025. Stolojan questioned the efficiency of this economy, rhetorically asking what kind of economy it is where spending increases without proportional results.

He also rejected the idea of a technocratic government as a solution to the current crisis, arguing that the necessary reforms would affect the interests of the PSD and that such a government would encounter significant resistance from existing political structures. Stolojan highlighted the need for deep reform in public administration and state-owned companies to restore coherence in the economic management of the country.
