Fuel and lubricant prices continued to rise in all member states of the European Union, with Romania recording an annual increase of 23.1%, according to Eurostat data. At the EU level, prices were, on average, 13.7% higher than in the same period last year, but the growth rate has slowed compared to May, when the average increase was 20.7%. In June 2026, the largest annual increases were recorded in Bulgaria (+26%) and Lithuania (+23.5%). Although fuels remained more expensive than a year ago, compared to May 2026, there were price reductions: diesel cost 6.4% less, and gasoline 4.2% less. The most significant price reductions for diesel were reported in the Czech Republic (-11.3%) and Poland (-9.7%). In Romania, both diesel and gasoline decreased in price by approximately 4% compared to the previous month.
