The Chinese industrial conglomerate Sany Group is expanding its presence in Romania through an investment of over 1 billion euros in a hybrid energy project called TIMIS SANY. The memorandum was signed with Danube Solar Seven SRL, owned by Mugurel Surupăceanu, a former deputy and prefect of Gorj. The project will include two solar parks of 800 MWp in Uivar, an energy storage system of 2.34 GWh, and a data center of 70 MW in Timișoara. Investments in photovoltaic parks are estimated at 320 million euros, while those in storage and the data center are each estimated at 350 million euros. Sany Group will supply the necessary equipment, including solar panels from its factory in Hunan, and will fully finance the project. The group already has experience in Romania, collaborating with Surupăceanu on two other renewable energy projects in Dolj, and work on these will begin at the end of this month. Sany Group, the third largest manufacturer of heavy industrial machinery in the world, reported a turnover of 11.7 billion dollars in 2025.
