The project, registered under the second call for proposals for strategic projects, aims to build an integrated unit that will transform graphite concentrate into products for anodes, essential for the lithium-ion battery industry. This investment will have a significant economic impact in Gorj County, generating approximately 300 jobs for specialists in operating advanced equipment. Graphite, a critical raw material, is essential for the green transition and is used in various industries, including the production of batteries for electric vehicles.

Salrom, with experience in graphite mining from 1979 to 2006, aims to resume operations under modern and sustainable conditions, adhering to European standards. The company emphasizes its strategic importance for the Romanian economy, considering the pure graphite resources available in the country.
