Radu Miruță, the Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, stated that the Romanian state must ensure that the debts of foreign companies that decide to leave the country will not remain uncovered, in order to avoid a new loss. This statement was made in the context of the sanctions imposed by the USA on the Russian company Lukoil, which announced its intention to sell its international assets to the trader Gunvor. The Romanian Ministry of Energy will evaluate the transaction within the Commission for the Examination of Foreign Direct Investments, and will express an official position after clarifying the ownership structure. Lukoil, a major player in the oil market, owns the Petrotel-Lukoil refinery and an extensive network of distribution stations in Romania.
