The presidential advisor Radu Burnete announces that Lukoil is under the observation of the Romanian authorities, who can analyze and block the sale of operations in Romania.

Radu Burnete, presidential advisor on economic issues, stated that the situation of the Lukoil company, which owns a refinery and fuel stations in Romania, is being closely monitored by the authorities. If Lukoil decides to sell its operations, a commission from the Romanian state will analyze the transaction and may exercise the right of veto, especially if there are doubts regarding the buyer. Lukoil provides approximately 25% of Romania's refining capacity, and currently, the refinery in Ploiești is shut down for maintenance, with fuel being supplemented by imports. Burnete mentioned that the acquisition of Lukoil's assets by the Romanian state is not excluded, but the final decision belongs to Lukoil. Additionally, the sanctions imposed by the U.S. Treasury affect Lukoil and Rosneft, and the Romanian authorities are concerned about the debts of these companies and the impact of their departure on local production. Romania is seeking solutions to prevent disruptions in fuel supply before the sanctions come into effect.
