The Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, announced that there are currently three companies negotiating the acquisition of Lukoil's assets in Romania, including the refinery and the network of gas stations. Romania has not requested an extension of the deadline for implementing American sanctions, maintaining a firm position in this regard, due to its independence from Russian hydrocarbons.
Ivan emphasized that he expects the application of sanctions, and subsequently, Lukoil will find a buyer to maintain economic activity. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with other ministries, is working on a regulatory act to ensure a legal framework for the oversight of the assets. Negotiations are taking place both at the international level and locally, with offers from companies in the USA and the European Union, and the Romanian state has limited powers in intervening in the transaction.
