Over 4.68 million retirees in Romania, in April 2026. The average pension reached 2,783 lei

According to data centralized by the National House of Public Pensions, in April 2026 there were 4,682,638 pensioners registered in Romania, 1,836 fewer than the previous month. The average pension reached 2,783 lei, and the total value of pension rights granted exceeded 13 billion lei. Among the pensioners, over 519,000 came from agriculture, where the average pension was significantly lower, at 715 lei.

The majority of pensioners were those retiring at the legal age – nearly 3.8 million people – with an average pension of 3,114 lei. At the same time, over 62,000 people received early retirement pensions, and nearly 392,000 benefited from disability pensions. Survivor pensions were granted to almost 447,000 people, with an average value of 1,510 lei.
