The financial evaluation agency Moody's announced the maintenance of Romania's rating at "Baa3", the last step in the category recommended for investors, with a negative outlook.
This decision reflects the high risks associated with the implementation of the fiscal consolidation program, despite initial progress in reducing the deficit. Moody's emphasized that the dismissal of the Bolojan Government complicated the political conditions, and a new government is expected after the summer vacation.
The agency noted that, although the budget deficit has decreased faster than anticipated, political and implementation risks remain significant. Moody's estimates that early elections are unlikely, and the fragmented political landscape complicates the formation of a new government.
An improvement in the rating outlook could occur if there is a political consensus for structural fiscal measures.
President Nicușor Dan welcomed the maintenance of the rating but warned of the need to continue efforts to balance public finances.
