Deputy Prime Minister Radu Miruță, acting Minister of National Defense and Transport, stated that maintaining Romania's country rating by Moody's is a confirmation of the difficult decisions made in the past year. Miruță emphasized that these measures, although unpopular, are essential for the stability and credibility of the country.
He highlighted the need to continue reforms, eliminate waste, and correct accumulated injustices. As a concrete example, he mentioned the launch of selection procedures for the leadership of state-owned companies in the transport sector, emphasizing that, although the law is not perfect, it is important to choose professionals to manage public funds correctly. Moody's maintained Romania's rating at 'Baa3', with a negative outlook, which places the country one step away from a non-recommended investment rating. This decision comes after Fitch also maintained Romania's rating at the last recommended level.
