According to Counterpoint Research data, global shipments of smart mobile phones increased by 2% in 2025, supported by robust demand from emerging markets. Apple dominated the market with a share of 20%, thanks to sales of the iPhone 17 model, followed by Samsung with 19% and Xiaomi with 13%. Manufacturers accelerated shipments to counteract the effects of tariffs, but these measures had a limited impact on volumes in the second half of the year. For 2026, a decrease of 2.1% in global shipments is estimated due to the memory chip shortage and rising component costs, particularly affecting phones priced under $200. Chinese brands, such as Honor and Oppo, will be the most vulnerable in the entry-level segment. Apple and Samsung are considered the best prepared to face future challenges, while Nvidia's decisions to use smartphone chips in AI servers could lead to increased demand and a doubling of prices by 2027.
