According to estimates from Counterpoint Research, Samsung Electronics could return to the top position in the smartphone manufacturers ranking in 2026, following an anticipated increase of 0.8% in shipments.
This comeback will occur in the context of a global decline in smartphone shipments by 14.3% in 2023, caused by a memory chip supply crisis. Chinese manufacturers will be the most affected, while Samsung benefits from a well-integrated supply chain. Additionally, the smartphone market will continue to decline in 2027, returning to growth only in 2028.
Apple may cope better with rising costs, but analysts are cautious regarding its evolution. Huawei, on the other hand, is developing its internal component sources, allowing it to avoid dependence on external suppliers. Chinese manufacturers, especially those offering affordable phones, are facing significant pressures on shipments due to rising costs and declining demand.
