The Via Dominorum project, a tourist route spanning approximately 120 kilometers, was discussed on Friday at the Dâmbovița County Council. Initiative representatives met with the institution’s president, Corneliu Ștefan, the mayors of the localities along the route and a representative of Salvamont Dâmbovița to establish the steps needed to develop the route.
The route will start in Târgoviște and continue toward Câmpulung and Curtea de Argeș. In Dâmbovița County, it will cross 15 localities: Târgoviște, Răzvad, Aninoasa, Glodeni, Brănești, Vulcana-Pandele, Vulcana-Băi, Pucioasa, Vârfuri, Bezdead, Moțăieni, Fieni, Runcu, Pietroșița and Pucheni.
The discussions focused on developing and marking the route, promoting it and involving local administrations. The initiators say that Via Dominorum will not be merely a hiking route, but also an economic development tool for the communities along the way.
The project aims to connect tourists with local producers, craftspeople, traditional households and businesses in the hospitality sector. According to estimates presented on the project’s page, the route could attract more than 10,000 visitors annually and involve over 50 local producers.
Corneliu Ștefan said that the initiative could help promote tourism and local products. Via Dominorum joins the category of long-distance tourism trails, following the example of Via Transilvanica, which crosses Romania.
