The Government approves the project related to the Sibiu-Pitești motorway

The Government has approved the modernization project for DN73C between Râmnicu Vâlcea and Tigveni, through which the city and the entire region will be connected directly to the Sibiu–Pitești Motorway. The investment is worth 770 million lei and will be financed from non-reimbursable external funds.

The project provides for the rehabilitation and widening of 13 kilometers of national road, as well as the construction of a new 2.4-kilometer section, with four traffic lanes, to bypass the locality of Tigveni. The connection to the motorway will be made via the Tigveni interchange.

The works also include the construction of three roundabouts and the rehabilitation of seven bridges and overpasses. According to Secretary of State for Transport Horațiu Cosma, the tender for the works will be launched this autumn. The investment is announced in the context of the imminent opening of Section 4 of the Sibiu–Pitești Motorway, between Tigveni and Curtea de Argeș.

The section is approximately 10 kilometers long and includes the 1.35-kilometer tunnel beneath Momaia Hill, the first bored motorway tunnel in Romania. After its opening, drivers will be able to travel uninterrupted on the motorway for approximately 150 kilometers, all the way to Bucharest.
