The government approves the Brașov–Făgăraș Motorway project, spanning nearly 50 kilometers and costing 9.35 billion lei

The government has approved the technical and economic indicators for the Brașov–Făgăraș Motorway, a project nearly 50 kilometers long aimed at easing traffic on one of the busiest routes in Brașov County. The investment is estimated at 9.35 billion lei, including VAT, and the works are scheduled to take 36 months.

The motorway will be built entirely within Brașov County and will cross the localities of Codlea, Dumbrăvița, Șercaia, Șinca and Mândra. The route was established following two stages of multicriteria analysis and will have a 26-meter-wide platform, with two traffic lanes in each direction.

The project is divided into two sections, each of which will have temporary connections to DN1 via bidirectional ramps and roundabouts. At the end of the second section, the motorway will connect to the future Sibiu–Făgăraș Motorway and to DN1 through an interchange included in the project for the neighboring section.

The investment includes 52 major structures: 46 bridges, overpasses and viaducts, as well as six cut-and-cover tunnels and ecoducts, designed in accordance with European load standards.
