CNAIR is preparing the tender for another motorway, nearly 50 kilometers long

The Brașov–Făgăraș Motorway project has entered the stage of finalizing the technical documentation after the related documentation for submission to the Government was approved in June. Once the technical design and the PAC and PTE documentation have been completed, CNAIR intends to launch the tender for the construction works.

The motorway will be approximately 50 kilometers long, while construction is expected to take 36 months. The investment is estimated at 7.74 billion lei, excluding VAT. The works contract is expected to be awarded under a FIDIC Red Book model.

The route will include the Codlea Sud, Codlea Nord and Șercaia interchanges, as well as 49 bridges, overpasses and viaducts. It will also feature an S3-type service area, a short-stay parking area and a Maintenance and Coordination Center.

To protect wildlife, three cut-and-cover structures or covered galleries will be built, with a combined length of approximately 800 meters, which will also function as wildlife crossings. The project has an environmental permit and an estimated internal economic rate of return of 13.10%.

The motorway will connect the Brașov area with Făgăraș, link the center of the country to the national motorway network and provide a connection to the future Sibiu–Făgăraș Motorway. The investment is intended to improve traffic flow, reduce travel times and pollution, and enhance road safety.
