Work on Lot 3C2 Chiribiș-Biharia of the Transylvania Motorway (A3) had reached 87% physical completion at the end of October and was progressing ahead of the established schedule, according to the National Road Investment Company (CNIR).
The Romanian contractor, the Precon Transilvania–Citadina 98 association, has approximately 300 people and more than 300 pieces of machinery and items of equipment mobilized on the construction site. The laying of the wearing course began on October 19, and two kilometers have been completed so far.
The first asphalt layer has been completed along 26.8 kilometers, representing 94% of the lot’s length, while the second layer has been laid along 16 kilometers, representing 57% of the route. Edge guardrails have been installed along 33.6 kilometers.
CNIR is monitoring the progress of the works and checking compliance with quality requirements. During the latest monthly progress meeting, the temperatures of the air, the subbase layer and the asphalt mixtures were measured, including after compaction. The company warns that weather conditions may affect the pace of the work.
The contractual completion deadline is May 20, 2027. The contract, worth 785 million lei, is financed through the Transport Programme 2021–2027.
