CNAIR announces that traffic on 13 kilometers of A0 North could open by the end of the month

Work on Lot 3 of the A0 North Motorway, between Afumați and Pantelimon, has reached 98.35% physical completion, and traffic on approximately 13 kilometers, between Glina and Afumați, could open by the end of this month if the current pace of work is maintained.

The announcement was made Friday by Cristian Pistol, director general of the National Road Infrastructure Administration Company. A total of 123 pieces of machinery and more than 200 workers and operators currently deployed by Chinese contractor China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation are working on the site.

Teams are carrying out work on structures, laying asphalt layers, developing service areas, and installing intelligent transport systems (ITS). The contractor’s mobilization has increased compared with the summer period, when the pace of operations was slower.

The contract for this lot is worth 397.99 million lei, excluding VAT, and is financed through non-reimbursable European funds under the Transport Programme 2021–2027.

Completion of Lot 3 will allow traffic to open on Lot 4 as well, between Pantelimon and Glina, which has already been accepted. Thus, the northern semi-ring road around the capital will provide a continuous link between the A3 Bucharest–Ploiești and A2 Bucharest–Constanța motorways.
