Authorities open 13 kilometers of the A0 North, between Afumați and Glina, after almost a year of delays

Traffic on approximately 13 kilometers of the A0 Bucharest Ring Motorway, between Afumați and Glina, was opened on Wednesday, November 4, at 2:00 p.m. The opening enables a direct connection between the A3 Bucharest–Ploiești and A2 Bucharest–Constanța motorways, without crossing the current Bucharest ring road.

The inaugurated section includes Lot 3, 8.6 kilometers long, built by the Chinese company CCECC, and Lot 4, 4.4 kilometers long, built by UMB. Lot 4 had been completed since June but could not be used without the adjacent lot.

The opening took place nearly a year late and had been postponed several times, most recently to October 26. CNAIR maintained that further work was still necessary, while former Secretary of State Horațiu Cosma accused officials of unjustified delays and political egos.

The A0 is approximately 100 kilometers long and bypasses Bucharest to the north and south. After the completion of the southern section, attention shifted to the A0 North, where Lot 1, between DN1 and A1, is the only remaining section under construction.
