Lot 3, Mircești–Pașcani, of the Bacău–Pașcani Motorway, part of the A7, has surpassed 55% physical completion, Cristian Pistol, director general of the National Road Infrastructure Administration Company (CNAIR), announced on Friday. Work is being carried out along a 28.09-kilometre section, and Romanian contractor UMB has 350 workers and more than 100 pieces of equipment and trucks deployed at the construction site.
The contractor is working simultaneously on earthworks, the road structure, asphalt surfacing, bridges, overpasses and service areas. An important objective is the Pașcani turbine interchange, which will connect the A7 with the Unirii Motorway (A8). The interchange will have eight connecting ramps and is the first of its kind to be built on Romania’s motorway network. According to CNAIR, work on it has reached approximately 35% physical completion.
Cristian Pistol estimates that by the end of the year, traffic will open on approximately 49 kilometres of the A7, between Bacău Nord and Mircești. The 28.09 kilometres of the Mircești–Pașcani lot are expected to open to traffic in the first part of 2027.
