Traffic on the A7 Moldavia Motorway will be extended to Bacău Nord next week, after the final works on the new road interchange are completed. The opening will take place very shortly, although CNAIR has not confirmed that it will occur on Tuesday.
CNAIR spokesperson Alin Șerbănescu said traffic would be allowed through the Bacău Nord interchange as soon as the remaining works are completed. The new road connection will link the motorway section already built with the A7 segment currently under construction.
After the opening, drivers will be able to travel continuously by motorway from Bucharest to Bacău Nord. According to CNAIR, the measure will not initially have a major impact on traffic, as traffic is currently diverted approximately four kilometres farther south, at the road interchange with Vaslui.
The interchange’s importance will increase once the Bacău–Pașcani section opens, as it will no longer be necessary to close traffic on Bacău’s bypass. After the interchange is inaugurated, approximately 258 of the 335 kilometres to Pașcani will be open to traffic on the A7.
Three lots, with a combined length of approximately 77 kilometres, are under construction north of Bacău. The first two, extending to Săbăoani, could open by the end of the year, while the Săbăoani–Pașcani section is estimated to be completed next year.
