Traffic on the Nădășelu-Zimbor section of the Transylvania Motorway (A3), measuring 30.6 kilometers in length, could be opened around December 15, estimates the Pro Infrastructure Association. The opening depends on the completion of work on the viaducts at Nădășelu and Topa Mică, carried out by the Özaltın–Ilgaz–Visio Construction Works consortium.
According to the organization, the Turkish contractor could complete the route diversions in approximately one and a half months, around three months ahead of the contractual deadline in March 2027. During the inspection on October 22, work on the viaducts had reached a physical completion rate of 87.8%.
The section built by UMB is approximately 99% complete. Minor works outside the route, a few expansion joints, and work on the service areas remain, but the motorway cannot be opened until the viaducts are completed.
If the estimate is confirmed, drivers will be able to travel uninterrupted on more than 155 kilometers of motorway, from Poarta Sălajului to Târgu Mureș. The 12.24-kilometer Zimbor–Poarta Sălajului section was inaugurated on August 11, 2026.
The contract for the Nădășelu–Zimbor section was signed in December 2020, while the initial completion deadline was December 2023. The contract for the viaducts, worth approximately 995 million lei excluding VAT, was signed in June 2024.
