The Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT) and the German Tourism Association (DRV) signed a cooperation protocol on Monday, November 2, 2026, to promote Romania on the German market and attract a larger number of tourists from Germany.
The first major action provided for in the agreement will take place in September 2027, when Romania will host the DRV Forum. The event will bring together approximately 60 representatives of German travel agencies, who will spend a week in the country and take part in four thematic routes dedicated to discovering Romanian destinations. They will subsequently participate in a joint conference.
The initiative aims to facilitate direct contact between German operators and Romania’s tourism offering, identify business opportunities, and include more Romanian destinations in the portfolios of agencies in Germany. The cooperation also targets the development of diversified tourism packages, partnerships between agencies and promotional organizations, joint marketing campaigns, and attracting tourists throughout the year.
Minister Daniel Zamfir highlighted health and wellness tourism, the Danube Delta, cultural heritage, historic cities, mountain areas, and traditional villages among the points of interest. The DRV delegation is in Romania from November 1 to 4, 2026, for meetings with representatives of the ministry and the tourism industry, as well as visits to destinations proposed for the 2027 forum.
