The interim Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, made a visit to Germany on Tuesday, in the cities of Bonn, Frankfurt am Main, and Wiesbaden, where she had meetings with representatives of the Romanian community and German officials. In Wiesbaden, she discussed with Manfred Pentz, the Minister for Federal and European Affairs of the state of Hesse, about bilateral relations and economic opportunities.
A central topic was the relaunch of the mixed economic commission Romania - Hesse, which will meet in Bucharest in the fall, after an eight-year hiatus. Trade exchanges between Romania and Hesse have increased by 10%, reaching 2 billion euros annually.
Oana Ţoiu emphasized the contribution of the Romanian community to the social security system in Germany and discussed education in the Romanian language. She also addressed the European agenda and the importance of maintaining cohesion funds.
During the meetings, the launch of mobile consular services for Romanians in the area was announced, as well as the increase of the consular team in Bonn. Romania will be the Guest of Honor at the Frankfurter Buchmesse in 2028.
