German companies are intensifying their interest in Romania’s energy sector, particularly in solar and wind energy projects, Germany’s ambassador to Bucharest, Angela Ganninger, said on Thursday, October 1, at the launch of the third edition of the Code of Good Practices for Renewable Energy in Romania.
The diplomat said that Romania is a high-potential market of strategic importance for the future of energy in Southeastern Europe. The country’s advantages include favorable natural conditions, ambitious renewable energy targets, growing investor confidence, and opportunities for technological innovation.
Ganninger emphasized that German companies want to be partners in Romania’s energy transformation. Bilateral cooperation is supported by the German-Romanian Declaration on Energy, signed at the beginning of this year, which focuses on energy security, efficiency, and the development of renewable energy sources.
Economic relations between the two countries are strong. German companies have been the leading foreign investors in Romania since 2006, while bilateral trade reached 42.6 billion euros in 2025. AHK Romania facilitates cooperation between German and Romanian companies, while RPIA and RWEA promote best practices in green energy.
