Transalpina, temporarily closed between Rânca and Obârșia Lotrului due to intensified snowfall / Road workers are intervening

Road traffic on Transalpina was temporarily closed after 18:00 due to snowfall and unfavorable weather conditions. The measure applies to the mountainous section of DN 67C between kilometer 34+800, in the Rânca area, and 59+800, at Obârșia Lotrului.

The Gorj County Police Inspectorate announced that the decision was made for the safety of road users amid worsening weather. The section was already open to traffic only between 09:00 and 18:00, while at night traffic was prohibited for all categories of motor vehicles.

Road workers intervened with two snowplows to inspect the road and remove the snow. Anti-skid material was spread on the roadway, and the inspection aimed to determine whether there were any drivers caught off guard by the change in weather conditions.

The Craiova Regional Directorate for Roads and Bridges warns that, if the weather deteriorates, traffic on this section could be permanently closed until the spring of next year.
