In Pitești, a serious road accident occurred due to a 20-year-old young man who ignored the police's stop signal and fled the scene. After being pursued, the driver was located after the accident, having his driving license suspended and being known for previous traffic violations. Testing with a breathalyzer showed a blood alcohol concentration of over 0.80 mg/l, however, the young man refused to provide biological samples. The accident resulted in the death of a 68-year-old man and serious injuries to three other people, including a six-year-old child. The young man was detained for 24 hours and will be presented to the Prosecutor's Office with a proposal for preventive measures. Off-duty police officers intervened to immobilize him and assist the victims.
