On December 18, traffic on the Friendship Bridge Giurgiu-Ruse was reopened in both directions, according to the announcement from the Giurgiu Territorial Inspectorate of Border Police.

This measure will remain in effect until January 8, 2026, to allow for smooth and safe transit during the winter holiday period. Bulgarian border authorities have confirmed the resumption of road traffic, including on the section under repair towards Romania. Until the reopening, traffic was alternately directed with traffic lights due to rehabilitation works carried out by the Bulgarian side. The works will resume after January 8, 2026, in the direction towards Bulgaria.
