Three people were found unconscious on Sunday, September 20, in a cellar in the village of Odaia Bogdana, Fălciu commune, Vaslui County. The victims were reportedly poisoned by carbon dioxide that had accumulated in the room during the fermentation of wine.
Several crews from the Vaslui County Ambulance Service and the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations were dispatched to the scene, including a TIM ambulance with a doctor, two SAJ B2 crews, and a B2 ambulance from ISU Huși.
The rescuers found a 76-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman in a deep coma. Another man, aged 40, was in cardiorespiratory arrest. The first medical crew to arrive at the household immediately began resuscitation procedures and managed to resuscitate him temporarily.
All three victims were taken over by the medical crews and transported urgently to the hospital for medical care. According to representatives of SAJ Vaslui, the carbon dioxide reportedly accumulated in the cellar while the wine was fermenting in containers.
