The residents of the Brăduleț commune, in Argeș County, live in fear for their safety due to the bison released in the Făgăraș Mountains, which have entered their yards and caused significant damage. Mayor Florin Iordache has sent an official letter to the Ministry of Environment, requesting immediate intervention, as the community feels abandoned and in danger.
Many families avoid letting their children outside, and side roads are avoided after dark. The mayor's office is requesting a rapid assessment of the damages, the relocation of the bison from the urban area, and compensation for affected property owners. Residents emphasize that animal protection should not come at the expense of their safety. The mayor stated that the safety of the community is a priority and is awaiting concrete measures from the authorities. In Romania, there are over 350 bison, most of them in the wild or semi-wild.
