The Military Traditions Museum of Dâmbovița in Târgoviște, located on the site where Nicolae and Elena Ceaușescu were executed in 1989, is becoming increasingly popular among tourists from all over the world. On a rainy spring day, the museum received groups of foreign students and pupils from Turkey, who were participating in an Erasmus project. The museum, which is participating for the first time in the Night of Museums program, offers a detailed reconstruction of the atmosphere from the communist period, including the office of the military unit commander and the execution wall.
The museum also showcases the military past of the city, having an impressive collection of uniforms and military objects. Visitors are surprised by the small size of the halls, but also by the atmosphere of insecurity from those days. The museum includes details about the last hours of Ceaușescu and is in the process of digitization, aiming to present an honest account of history. Approximately 70% of visitors are foreigners, and interest in this place continues to grow.
