Approximately a thousand miners from Gorj have headed to Bucharest to protest in front of the Government, dissatisfied with the plans to reduce staff at the Oltenia Energy Complex (CEO).

In the last two weeks, hundreds of employees have taken to the streets, demanding the maintenance of jobs for the 2,000 employees who are set to be laid off. The protesters emphasize the devastating impact of these cuts on their families and the local economy, comparing the situation to that of the Petroșani area, which has become desolate after the miners left.

The CEO management has announced that it will conduct a personnel analysis, but the miners are demanding concrete actions, including a memorandum from the authorities. The rally will take place in Victory Square, between 12:00 and 17:00, according to the Bucharest City Hall.
