Teachers in Bucharest will organize a large-scale protest on June 17, with an estimated participation of around 20,000 people. The action, coordinated by the three major trade union federations in education, aims to draw attention to the need for fair salaries and to express opposition to the draft Law on the Salaries of Budgetary Personnel. The protest will begin at 10:00 AM in Victory Square, in front of the Government headquarters, and will include a march to Izvor Park. Union members emphasize that the current draft does not meet the expectations of employees in education and demand measures that reflect the importance of their work. They state that austerity measures and the negligence of the authorities affect the rights of employees and the quality of education. Trade unions believe that the new law condemns teachers to poverty and represents a violation of existing legislation, demanding a firm response from the authorities.
