Daniel Băluță, the mayor of Sector 4, stated that the restoration works of the Unirii Square could be completed by 2026, provided that the weather is favorable. The current status of the works is ahead of schedule by a few months compared to the initial timeline.
Băluță mentioned that, in the final stages of the project, there will be no traffic restrictions, as the works will take place inside the park at Piața Unirii.
The mayor is optimistic about identifying funding sources for this project, which is considered of national importance, given its impact on traffic in the area, including on the M2 subway line and the Palace of the Parliament. Băluță emphasized that he does not anticipate any issues regarding the funding of the works.
